Within Subject Variability Analysis Reveals a Transition Point for the Longswing across Age Groups
نویسندگان
چکیده
This research aimed to observe changes in the within subject variability of the longswing performance and coordination across age groups in gymnasts divided by their competition level, from younger (group 1) to experts (group 5). Data were collected by two video cameras. Performance and coordinative within subject variability were calculated by the standard deviation (inter-trial variability) and the deviation phase (intra-trial variability). Results only showed significant group differences for within subject variability (interand intra-trial) in the SD P3H-P3S. In addition, group 4 (14.78±0.57 yrs) showed both large intertrial variability in the upswing shoulder flexion (P3) and large intra-trial variability during hip and shoulder extension (P2) and P3. Such large variability in group 4 suggests a transition point towards the experts ́ performance and coordination (19.96±3.37 yrs). 2

Coordination Analysis Reveals Differences in Motor Strategies for the High Bar Longswing among Novice Adults
Coordination between arm-trunk and trunk-leg is important for effective longswing performance. This research describes inter-segmental coordination changes after a practice period of longswing on high bar in a novice cohort. Novices were divided by initial skill level (talent) into two groups: spontaneously-talented, (ST, n = 10, closer to expert performance) and non-spontaneously-talented (NST...
متن کاملEvaluation of Gait Variability in Deafness and Comparing it with Normal-hearing Listeners After a Course of Interventional Proprioceptive Training
Objective: Gait variability index is an important index in the clinical treatment of people with walking problems. Since the variability of gait behavior in deaf people has not been evaluated so far, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the walking variability of deaf people and compare it with normal-hearing listeners. Methods: The statistical population of this study was deaf and hearin...
متن کاملKinematic changes during learning the longswing on high bar.
The purpose of this study is to provide evidence of technique changes during learning a sports-specific skill, the looped bar longswing (LLS). Thirteen male participants with no previous high bar experience took part in a training study. Kinematic data were collected using a CODA motion analysis system (200 Hz) during eight weekly testing sessions. Analyses focused on the amplitude of swing and...
متن کاملLimit Cycle Representation of the Gymnastics Longswing
Human movement science is searching for ways to capture global dynamics of our complex multi-segment system. The aim of this study was to explore differences in a limit cycle representation of longswings on high bar as a function of skill level. One elite international, one collegiate, and one novice gymnast performed four consecutive longswings on high bar. Through the novel representation of ...
متن کاملPain-Induced Impact on Movement: Motor Coordination Variability and Accuracy-Based Skill
Studies on pain are generally conducted for two purposes: first, to study patients with pain who have physical changes due to nerve and muscle lesions, and second, to regain the appropriate kinematic post-pain pattern. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of pain on the coordination variability pattern and throw accuracy. Participants included 30 people with a mean age of 18-25 yea...
